Your Workplace

The Psychiatric Outpatient Care in Karlstad is part of the Area of Psychiatric Specialties. The area of psychiatric outpatient care consists of the county's psychiatric outpatient clinics as well as the Center for Eating Disorders, Center for Emotional Instability, LARO clinic with RACT team, Neuropsychiatric clinic, Center for Traumatic Stress, and a dedicated ST physician unit.

The Psychiatric Outpatient Care in Karlstad/Bryggaregatan consists of clinics 2, 3, 4, and the administrative unit, and we are centrally located in Klara. Our mission is specialist psychiatric care and treatment/investigation for patients with neuropsychiatric issues, psychotic disorders, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, and other general psychiatric conditions. The operation in Karlstad has a catchment area of about 100,000 and includes the municipalities of Karlstad, Hammarö, Kil, and Forshaga. On September 1, 2025, an organizational change will take place where we will become four psychiatric clinics with all diagnosis groups as areas of responsibility.

We are now looking for a specialist physician in psychiatry for clinic 3. At the clinic, physiotherapists, nurses, psychologists, social workers, doctors, caregivers, and occupational therapists work together. Our mission at clinic 3 is specialist psychiatric care and treatment/investigation for patients with neuropsychiatric issues, psychotic disorders, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, and other general psychiatric conditions.

Your Responsibilities

We constantly strive to improve our operations, and as a physician, you have a great opportunity to be involved in developing and influencing care and our working methods at the clinic. The operation continuously works to implement new methods that, based on knowledge management and VIP, develop psychiatric care and treatment, focusing on individualized care and treatment. We are currently on a transformation journey where you, as a physician, will have the opportunity to contribute your medical specialty and expertise along the way.

The main responsibilities for you as a physician with us include psychiatric treatment work such as psychiatric assessment/basic investigation and medical treatment. You will meet your physician colleagues in psychiatric outpatient and inpatient care one afternoon a month and participate in cross-functional forums with management. We have cross-professional treatment conferences where all professions participate, and you will also take part as a physician. We have daily rounds where nurses and physicians participate.

You will supervise medical students, ST/AT/BT as needed, and also support the team in medical issues and assist the unit manager in medical priorities. You will participate in development work based on research and evidence-based care to enhance care at the clinic with the patient's best interests at heart.

Your Skills and Competencies

We are looking for someone who is a specialist physician in psychiatry. You should have a strong patient focus with a collaborative and solution-oriented approach to work. Together with the rest of the team, you will take responsibility for patient safety and quality in the care we provide. You plan, organize, and prioritize your work effectively and consider the whole when you act and make decisions. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability as well as communication and collaboration skills. Since travel is required for the position, a valid driver's license (B) is a requirement.
